Ontario Power Generation Canadian Composer Award
Committed to celebrating and promoting Canadian composers as part of Canada’s 150th birthday, in partnership with Ontario Power Generation, the North Bay Kiwanis Music Festival is offering a special award category to recognize excellence here in Canada. We encourage teachers to support their students’ exploration and selection of Canadian Compositions. To be eligible for this award, the participant must note ‘Canadian Composer Award’ when registering online. A $50.00 cash award will be presented to the students or groups with the highest mark in each discipline. (Subject to confirmation)

This cash award of $150.00 is given to a grade 12 high school student who is pursuing their studies, in the following school year, in music education in any discipline (ex., voice, piano, wind or string instrument) at a university or college level. This award is to encourage students to further their studies in music education at a university or college level and to become our future school music teachers. Please indicate a note ‘pursuing music education’ upon registration. (Subject to confirmation)
To be eligible, a participant must participate in at least two disciplines (i.e. voice and piano or piano and strings) one solo in at least two disciplines and one ensemble in at least one discipline.
