The members of the Kiwanis Club of Nipissing and the Kiwanis Music Festival committee are delighted to have hosted the 54th Annual North Bay Kiwanis Music Festival

April 23-May 3 2019.

Esteemed adjudicators travelled here from across the province to hear over a thousand participants from North Bay and surrounding areas.

Special Awards (subject to confirmation)

Ontario Power Generation Canadian Composer Award

Committed to celebrating and promoting Canadian composers as part of Canada’s 150th birthday, in partnership with Ontario Power Generation, the North Bay Kiwanis Music Festival is offering a special award category to recognize excellence here in Canada. We encourage teachers to support their students’ exploration and selection of Canadian Compositions. To be eligible for this award, the participant must note ‘Canadian Composer Award’ when registering online. A $50.00 cash award will be presented to the students or groups with the highest mark in each discipline. (Subject to confirmation) 

Cynthia Roveda Music Education Award 

This cash award of $150.00 is given to a grade 12 high school student who is pursuing their studies, in the following school year, in music education in any discipline (ex., voice, piano, wind or string instrument) at a university or college level. This award is to encourage students to further their studies in music education at a university or college level and to become our future school music teachers. Please indicate a note ‘pursuing music education’ upon registration. (Subject to confirmation) 

Multi-Discipline Award

To be eligible, a participant must participate in at least two disciplines (i.e. voice and piano or piano and strings) one solo in at least two disciplines and one ensemble in at least one discipline.

Example 1: piano solo and duet, violin solo.

Example 2: voice solo, piano solo and concert band. Please indicate in notes when registering, if you would like to be considered for these awards.


Lynda Rehder Kennedy Award (Piano)

Since 2005 one piano student is chosen by the adjudicator to receive this award of excellence.

This $250 bursary is sponsored by Neil Kennedy. (Subject to confirmation)
